The loss of patient data or critical information is every hygienist’s worst nightmare. Generally, data is stored on your server or main computer and rarely is that information backed up in an efficient and consistent way. In the event of a single PC or network-wide failure, rebuilding that information could take weeks, even months, and sometimes never. That can have a catastrophic effect on your practice.

MaxiVault is an online automated backup system that can be used as a stand-alone backup system or as a secondary disaster recovery program. In either case, it offers peace of mind that you can rely on. If you use a digital x-ray system, MaxiChart Electronic Restorative and Periodontal Charting, or are completely paperless, MaxiVault is a must-have backup solution.

MaxiVault is a solution that makes data protection quick and easy and secure.Using an Internet connection, your data is stored off-site in a state-of-the-art data center and is protected automatically. If you accidentally lose a file, a backup, your main computer or even a full hard drive, your data can be recovered quickly and there’s little or no disruption to your practice or patients!

 

Features and Functions

 

  • Automatic Backups
    Once your server is setup (Maxident techs must complete initial setup), backups will occur at your scheduled time automatically. You can back it up as frequently as you like without any extra effort. You can backup any files – not only your Maxident-related files.
  • Incremental Backups
    Your first full backup would take the longest to send. Every backup after your first upload will not take as long. Backups are incremental. Our electronic file filing system allows you to access multiple versions of your files. MaxiVault has a file retention period of 7 days. All files are retrievable within your file retention period and then purged.
  • Data Compression
    Data is compressed and encrypted before it is uploaded.  Compression reduces the length of time needed to upload your backup, minimizes the space your files occupy on the servers, and protects the privacy of your critical data.
  • Data Encryption
    Your data is encrypted. All of your files are first zipped and encrypted with your defined encrypting key before they are sent to the backup server. To all people but you, your files stored on the backup server are no more than some garbage files with random content.
  • Complete Security and Privacy
    Maxim will not keep your encryption key. The encryption key used to encrypt your files resides only on your computer and is known only to you. It is never transmitted anywhere across the network. If this key is lost, all backup files can never be recovered. Therefore, although we have access to all files you stored on the backup server, we have no knowledge of the content of the files you store.
  • Cutting-edge Encryption Algorithms
    MaxiVault uses the best encryption algorithm. Currently, the algorithm that we are using to encrypt your files is 128-bit Twofish. It is a block cipher. It was also one of the five Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) finalists chosen by National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST). It subjects to frequent public reviews but no known attack against this algorithm has been reported.
  • IP Address Restriction
    If you use Maxident’s Enterprise Edition or have multiple practice locations, you can restrict access to data by IP address. You can restrict access to your backup files from the set of IP addresses you define. If someone tries to access your data from an IP address not on your defined list, their access will be denied. This additional security ensures your backup files are not open to all locations, even if username and password are known.
